Grenada is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire Caribbean — and unlike many island destinations, most of them remain blissfully uncrowded. From the world-famous Grand Anse to remote strips of sand only accessible by boat, here are the eight beaches that every visitor needs to experience.
1. Grand Anse Beach
Two miles of powder-soft white sand, calm turquoise water, and a backdrop of green mountains. Grand Anse is the beach that puts Grenada on the map, and it lives up to every bit of its reputation. Unlike many famous Caribbean beaches, it never feels overcrowded — even on the busiest cruise ship days. Beach bars line the southern end, where you can grab a Carib beer or rum punch without leaving the sand.
2. Morne Rouge (BBC Beach)
Just around the headland from Grand Anse, Morne Rouge is smaller, quieter, and even more sheltered. The water is almost impossibly calm — like a natural swimming pool. It's the perfect beach for families with young children or anyone who wants to float in absolute tranquility. A small beach bar serves fresh fish and cold drinks.
3. Bathway Beach
On Grenada's wild northern coast, Bathway is protected by an offshore reef that creates a natural pool of calm water even when the Atlantic swells are pumping. It's a locals' favourite — far from the tourist trail — and the views of the rocky coastline are dramatic. Bring your own food and drinks; there are no vendors here.
4. Levera Beach
One of the most beautiful and remote beaches on the island. Levera sits at the northeastern tip of Grenada, with views of Sugar Loaf Island and Carriacou. From March to August, leatherback turtles nest here. The beach is wild, windswept, and utterly photogenic — the kind of place that makes you feel like an explorer.
5. Magazine Beach
A gorgeous strip of sand near Point Salines, Magazine Beach is popular with locals and expats but still relatively unknown to tourists. The snorkeling off the rocks at the southern end is surprisingly good, with tropical fish, sea fans, and the occasional turtle. The Aquarium restaurant sits right on the sand.
6. La Sagesse Beach
Tucked into a sheltered bay on the southeast coast, La Sagesse feels like a secret. The beach is framed by mangroves and sea grape trees, and the water is warm and calm. A nature centre nearby offers hiking trails through dry tropical forest — one of the few remaining patches on the island.
7. Sandy Island
A tiny, uninhabited sandbar off the coast of Carriacou, Sandy Island is the Caribbean postcard come to life. Knee-deep turquoise water, pristine reef just yards from shore, and absolutely nothing else. You'll need a boat to get here, but it's worth every minute of the journey. Our Sandy Island Escape tour takes you there in style.
8. Anse La Roche
Only accessible by a 20-minute hike through the Carriacou countryside, Anse La Roche rewards the effort with a completely deserted stretch of golden sand, excellent snorkeling, and views of the Grenadines stretching south. Pack a lunch, bring a snorkel, and plan to stay all afternoon.
